THE PAIN CLINIC - Bowen Therapy

Typically a session induces deep relaxation followed by profound and often miraculous results! Clinical research has confirmed that even in chronic cases, over 80% of recipients are symptom free within 1-6 sessions.
The treatment is a thorough complete body approach and therefore work is performed from head to toe and not just at the site of pain. The aim of treatment is to search out neuro muscular blocks and imbalances throughout the muscular system and then go about normalising tensional balance left to right, top to bottom and front to back. Where the treatment differs from other body work is that there is no hard manipulation, massage or adjustment of bones and this makes the treatment safe for all conditions and age groups. Instead gentle but purposeful rolling type releases are performed over key areas of muscle, tendon, ligament and fascia (connective tissue).
A key and incredibly important part of the treatment is the rest periods between sets of releases. The therapist leaves the room to allow the releases to ‘cook’ and this creates time and space for the brain and nervous system to make a positive response to each release performed. A response can take many forms a few of which can be; equalizing of muscle tension, increase of circulation, reduction of pain and deep relaxation, to name a few.
Ultimately when neuro muscular imbalances are removed, optimum function and self-regulation are restored. Healing that had previously been blocked or restricted is initiated. Function and good health return.

SCENAR THERAPY
SCENAR is one of the world's most effective pain relieving devices around today. A small hand held device thats medically certified and being used by healthcare professionals worldwide for treating all types of pain. Scenar is applied to the areas requiring healing and pain relief for periods of time, ranging from 10 to 40mins.
Scenar is mostly incorporated into a Bowen Therapy session to enhance the overall treatment outcome. This will be discussed by your therapist prior to treatment.
*Please note that patients with a pacemaker can not receive scenar therapy.

MASSAGE THERAPY
Thai Herbal Massage
This combines the healing effects of traditional Eastern massage with the added benefit of a heated compress, made from a blend of aromatic therapeutic herbs. These herbs have a healing effect on the body.

Indian Head Massage (50 mins)
Indian Head Massage, also known as the ‘The Ultimate Stress Buster’ is a holistic treatment which has been practiced in India for thousands of years. The treatment consists of a deep tissue massage of the upper back, neck and shoulders followed by a relaxing scalp and facial massage.

Reflexology (50 mins)
Reflexology is an ancient healing method which involves pressure and massage of the reflex points found on the feet and hands. He-shi contains antioxidant, vitamin and aromatherapy properties which both protect and minimise moisture loss. Preparation Advice
For best results it is recommended that the body is given a complete exfoliation the day prior to the application of the tan. Please remove all makeup, deodorant and moisturiser prior to tanning. It is advisable to wear loose, dark clothing and open footwear.
