Traditional Thai Massage
Thai massage is a therapeutic massage and a traditional treatment for relieving stress and tension, and for the treatment of back pain, stiff neck, shoulder pain, and sports injuries including muscle and tendon strain.
Traditional Thai Massage technique is known as the most holistic type of therapy. It combines modern scientific knowledge of anatomy of physiology with the disciplines of traditional oriental medicine. It employs combinations of rhythmic acupressure, body rocking and deep assisted stretches to relieve muscular tension and enables more blood to be carried throughout the body. A number of gentle techniques are carried out on the floor using the feet, knees, elbows, palms, forearms and thumbs. Treatment generally falls into one of two categories; full body routines and localised therapy and may last between 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Benefits of full body massage include: * Alleviation of physical and emotional tension
* Release and relaxation of muscles and improved flexibility
* Relief from general muscular aches and pains
* Muscolo-skeletal realignment
* Sciatica Pain
* Improves circulation and stimulates the lymphatic system
Thai foot Massage
Thai Foot Massage is a massage of the lower legs and feet that involves hands on stretching and massage to “open” Sen (energy) Lines, along with the use of a stick to stimulate the reflex points on the feet which correspond to the internal organs of the body. Thai Foot Massage stimulates these points to promote general health and well-being.
A Treatment in Thai Foot Massage will usually last for one hour and the therapist may spend the last 10 minutes massaging the hands and sometimes the shoulders too.
Thailand has evolved as a centre for massage, partly due to geographical location and partly to the peoples’ predisposition towards massage, with traditional techniques from India and China diverging in Thailand to give us Traditional Thai Massage and Thai Foot Massage.
Thai Foot Massage takes it’s origins from China where the art has been practiced for over 5000 years, and Thai Foot Massage, as seen everywhere in Thailand today, has developed from Chinese, Japanese, and Korean foot masseuses.
Traditional Thai Massage and Thai Foot Massage compliment each other beautifully. Thai Massage balances the elements of the mind and body, while Thai Foot Massage stimulates the internal organs, giving the receiver an holistic treatment.
The benefits of a Thai Foot Massage * Improved circulation and toxin removal.
* Stimulated lymphatic drainage and immune system boost.
* Reduced stiffness and improved flexibility.
* Accelerated physical healing
* Stress relief
* Improved sleep
* Clarity of mind

About Thai Massage
Thai massage is believed to have been developed by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, physician to Buddha, more than 2,500 years ago in India.
It made its way to Thailand, where the Ayurvedic techniques and principles gradually became influenced by traditional Chinese medicine. For centuries, Thai massage was performed by monks as one component of Thai medicine.
Thai massage uses passive stretching and gentle pressure along the body’s energy lines to increase flexibility, relieve muscle and joint tension and balance the body’s energy systems. It is both deeply relaxing and energizing.
Thai massage takes place on a futon mat on the floor, and you wear loose fitting clothing. You start by laying on your back, and the therapist uses gentle compression and stretching techniques to open up your body, beginning with you legs. Some people say Thai massage is a little like doing yoga without any effort, because the therapist will push your body into various positions without any work on your part.
Thai massage is done with all your clothes on, so some people recommend it if you feel uncomfortable with nudity during a Swedish massage. The therapist literally uses their whole body, including their feet, to move your body into various positions, so in some ways it feels more even intimate than a Swedish massage.
Thai massage has its roots in a spiritual tradition, and its purpose is to heal a person physically, emotionally and spiritually.
