About Wellness Embodied

Wellness Embodied is about taking care of your greatest asset - your body. We provide massage therapies, one-to-one Pilates and exercise rehabilitation, either on their own or combined together as the perfect combination to keep your body feeling, moving and performing at its best.

Whether you want pure relaxation and stress reduction, to reduce postural aches and pains, or to recover from an injury, we tailor each session to your specific individual needs.

We operate from our private clinic room set in the grounds of the North London Business Park (Building 3). We also provide a “to you” service so that you can enjoy and benefit from our services from the comfort of your own home.

Gavin

Gavin qualified as a personal trainer and sports massage therapist in 2002 and since then has developed a keen interest in working in manual therapy and rehabilitation, as well as working at Wellness Embodied is studying towards a Masters in Osteopathy with the London School of Osteopathy.

Gavin provides personally tailored massage treatments combining techniques from different disciplines to help people reduce muscular aches and pains, recovery from injuries, reduce stress and increase health.

Victoria

Victoria came to Pilates 7 years ago following increasing problems with back pain, related
 to Hypermobility Syndrome. The benefits experienced through her own practice led to such improvements in her movement, and reduction in pain that it inspired her to not only adopt Pilates as a practice for life, but also to go onto qualify as an instructor.
Her experience as an Occupational Therapist, as well as her own personal journey enable her to understand and empathise with the very challenges that her students may have; enabling her to provide a safe, fun and progressive Pilates session that is adaptable to individual needs.

Massage Therapies

Sports and remedial massage

Sports massage is not just for athletes but for anyone who partakes in physical activity or suffers from postural aches and pains. Although originally developed for athletes to emphasise healing and prevention of injuries and reduce chronic pain and restricted ranges of motion, these techniques also work brilliantly for people who are suffering from postural muscles strains and aches and pains including office workers, people who spend a lot of time driving, manual workers and people that engage in repetitive activities. As well massage we also advise on strengthening and stretching exercises to aid in recovery and reduce chances of re-injury.

Swedish massage

Swedish massage is a whole body treatment combining long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping and percussion and vibration techniques to release tension and increase blood flow and oxygen supply to the tissues. Swedish massage can be both invigorating and deeply relaxing.

The main purpose of Swedish massage is increasing blood flow and release toxins that may have built up in tissues; it also speeds up recovery time, gently stretches muscles and reduces tension both physical and mental. Swedish massage is a wonderful way to relax and pamper your self.

Bespoke massage

At wellness embodied we aim to make your massage experience as unique as you are, with a few careful questions and a quick assessment we can find out what you want and need from your treatment. By combining techniques from Swedish sports remedial and advanced massage techniques we can provide you with the ideal therapy for you. Whether the aim is to create a sense of deep relaxation and rejuvenation, reduce aches and pains, or speed up recovery from an injury.

Combined treatments

Long term chronic muscle knots and postural muscle pains are most effectively treated with a combination of hands on work to lengthen release and increase blood flow to restricted muscles, and exercise based therapy to retrain key stabilising muscles and movement patterns, and adjustment of daily postures and activities. This is why we offer combined treatments where we combine hands on massage and manual therapy skills with Pilates and rehabilitation exercises to enhance and prolong the benefits of the treatment. The two types of work go hand in hand to complement, enhance and reinforce the effects of each other, leading to longer lasting results and improved physical well-being.


Pilates

At Wellness Embodied we use Principles of modified Pilates combined with strengthening and rehabilitation techniques, and where necessarily hands on therapies to provide a unique experience of rehabilitation, realignment and body awareness

Sessions focus on working and moving with correct body alignment and correct breathing patterns to improve and challenge your bodies postural and alignment habits and increase mobility and ease of movement. We base each session on an assessment of your current posture and movement patterns, so that our sessions are not only based on a thorough understanding of anatomy, but is specifically tailored to your body and your own specific needs.

Modified Modified Pilates is ideal for those that require specific attention, such as people with a history of injury or pain, or post pregnancy.

Programmes are tailored to your specific needs whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced in Pilates, whether you are recovering from pain, looking to prevent future problems or just want to improve your posture and move better.
