My name is Claire Conisbee and I have been a practicing osteopath since 2005. Osteopathy is a complete healthcare system including diagnosis and treatment of physical injury and impaired body mechanics. I work in the village of Westcott, near Dorking in Surrey and my practice is located within the Riverbank Surgery.
Welcome to Westcott Mobile Osteopath
Westcott is situated in the shadow of the North Downs and it is ideally located, being within easy reach of Dorking, Reigate and Guildford and the nearby communities of Ockley, Abinger Hammer and Holmbury St. Mary as well as a number of other villages in the area.
I have recently come live in Westcott and felt that to live and practice in the same location made good practical sense. I therefore approached the staff at Riverbank Surgery who were kind enough to allow me to join them there and, in doing so, give an additional choice of treatment to patients. I am pleased to be able to offer the service of my profession to the people of the area and if you feel that osteopathic treatment may benefit you then I would be happy to advise you and, where appropriate, offer relevant treatment.
HOME VISITS: For the less mobile patient or for those who experience difficulty in travelling to the practice I am happy to consider a home visit however, it is always preferable to undertake examinations and treatment at the practice where enhanced facilities are available. In the interest of safety and patient consideration I reserve the right to refuse home visits if it is felt necessary to do so.
About Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a safe and natural approach to healthcare, complementary to other medical practices. It is suitable for almost anyone and can contribute to the alleviation of an enormous range of conditions.
Osteopathy focuses on detecting and treating problems within the musculo-skeletal system (the bones, muscles, joints, ligaments and connective tissues) and the way in which this inter-relates to the body as a whole. When the body is balanced and efficient, just like a well tuned engine, it will function with the minimum of wear and tear, leaving more energy for living.
Osteopaths consider each person as an individual. Utilising a highly developed sense of touch, they identify problem areas of the body. Using gentle stretching and mobilising techniques as well as manipulating joints, an osteopath works with the body to create the perfect conditions to facilitate the healing process.
Osteopaths use soft and deep tissue massage, stretches, joint mobilisation, manipulation and various other techniques to gently and safely bring about healthy changes. Osteopaths also promote nutrition and fitness to sustain healthy body systems.
Osteopathy can treat a wide variety of problems including:
- Back and neck pain
- Whiplash injuries
- Sports injuries
- Tension headaches
- Joint problems
- Frozen shoulder
- Pain associated with osteoarthritis
- Pain related to pregnancy
- And much more
