About Kevin
Kevin offers regular weekly yoga classes for men and women of all ages and abilities. He teaches yoga in a way which is both clear and accessable. Kevin sees the practise of yoga as a means to developing greater compassion and self-acceptance.
Kevin practises yoga within a context of Buddhist mindfulness rather than Hindu texts and philosophy.. His yoga practise is continually informed and supported by his meditation practise.
Kevin trained and qualified as a yoga teacher with the Iyengar Yoga Association (UK), and has been holding regular weekly classes in Stroud and Gloucestershire since 2000. He has worked with people of all ages and abilities, both in the corporate and public sector, as well as with men and women in prison, in an organization working with addiction recovery, with special needs, in youth centres, and has current enhanced CRB clearance. What is yoga?
Yoga evolved in India over thousands of years and has stood the test of time as a complete system for the development of the human being, integrating body, heart and mind.
What is Iyengar yoga?
Kevin trained in the Iyengar system, this is yoga based on the teachings of B.K.S Iyengar, the world's foremost living authority on Hatha yoga. Iyengar yoga emphasizes the importance of detail and alignment, in order to allow the physiological systems to function at thier best. The postures are adjusted to meet the needs of the individual, and individual attention and correction is given. The Iyengar system is safe, orderly and progressive, is therefore educationally sound and brings lasting benefits.
Why practise yoga?
The practise of yoga develops strength & flexibility, improves posture & creates a feeling of well being. Regular practise increases awareness, bringing emotional stability and inner calm.
