SERVICES
Welcome to YogaWalks
The aim is to provide ‘a natural pause’ from ordinary daily life, time out for the individual, an opportunity to unwind, deepen your yoga practice and enjoy the countryside.
Lizzy also teaches regular hatha and pregnancy yoga classes in Northamptonshire.
Lizzy Giles:
Through yoga I strive to be in the here and now, live in the moment and accept what it brings, smile from inside and glow on the outside. Sometimes I achieve this.
The infinite benefits of yoga became apparent to me when working in a highly pressurised office environment. Teaching the physical angle has been a natural progression from an earlier career in dance.
Performing missed the focus on inner balance, subtle energy, stillness, well being and much more experienced in yoga. In 1999 I gave up fulltime finance work to teach yoga and have never looked back.
I practice Hatha yoga. Continuously inspired by many great teachers and clients from a wealth of disciplines and physical abilities my yoga practice is constantly evolving and diversifying, spiralling onwards to benefit others and myself.
Yoga has integrated into my life as a constant journey of learning, exploration, discovery, sharing and joy.
Initially trained at the Sivananda Ashram in Kerela, India, I later completed IPTI two year teacher training with Inner Healing School of Yoga in Wellingborough.
Trained with Birthlight in 2005 to teach pregnancy yoga which has added a wonderful approach to my teaching. I also hold BWY module in post-natal mother and baby yoga through Sitaram.
I hold an ITEC certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Swedish massage and previously practiced Thai Massage which now complements my yoga teaching.
About the courses
Yoga and walking weekends aim to be located in an attractive village surrounded by beautiful countryside accessible to walkers.
10am Saturday -1pm Sunday
Three yoga sessions, two walks, lunch, tea & cakes included
The Yoga
Classes incorporate a variety of breathing exercises, postures, relaxation, mudras and meditation. Each session lasts for around 1 ½ - 2 hours and is suitable to all levels of ability, with the opportunity to work within individual limits and beyond what we believe ourselves capable of.
The classes flow, helping the individual to focus on themselves, physically and internally, uniting the body, mind and spirit - YOGA. Within the flow the aim is for a balanced release, stretch and strengthen for body and mind.
The Walks
Walks aim to be about 2 hours long on public footpaths. They pass along a variety of tracks, meadows and quiet county roads crossing over styles, streams and through villages. We walk at an easy pace to enjoy the surroundings, the company and the good weather!
If weather is particularly bad we may choose to shorten a walk and extend an indoor session.
Food
Home made and where possible organic vegetarian soups, cakes and cookies, with freshly baked bread, cheese selection, fresh fruit and a wide variety of teas, coffee and juice.
On Saturday evening those who choose eat together in a local pub.
