Welcome to Yoga with Jaina
Yoga literally means union. I personally have learnt, believe and follow the philosophy that yoga postures develop strength in order for the body to sit in meditation for long periods of time, to connect and unite with the higher self. This allows the practitioner to become more aware of oneself which aids in decision making and understanding the role they must play in life.
The yoga postures will help to tone and strengthen the body. Posture work will also aid in developing a heightened sense of awareness of the capability of the body as well as drawing attention to weaker areas which need to be strengthened.
The breathing exercises will encourage prana (life force energy) to circulate through the body efficiently providing energy and healing qualities. Just as we need to exercise the body to stay healthy and well we must exercise the breath. Breath awareness will also calm and relax the body to comfortably lead into meditation.
Relaxation provides the practitioner time to rest the body and mind thus rejuvenating oneself in order to take on daily tasks.
Overall if a yoga practise is undertaken then you will sooner or later experience the benefits whether it is mentally, physically or spiritually.
About Me
Life is challenging for everyone and I feel that through my challenges yoga has been my friend and companion. It’s a place that I unconsciously sought to find comfort and joy in and it has naturally grown and expanded in my life. It also provides me with a sense of ease knowing that whatever life presents me with I have the guidance of yoga to help me.
However yoga is not an easy ride. Though it has bought me a protected sense of comfort it has also tested my character and personality. It has bought to surface all the underlying issues that I have carried within myself, thus allowing me to understand how to change myself and improve my life. The beauty of yoga is that although it shows you the darkness it also provides a light of understanding if we choose to seek it.
In order to stay true to the path of yoga I believe in Union and Oneness. The ability to understand that we are one collective. That there is no difference between you and I. That we’re all just on a journey together. This has encouraged me to teach and share what I have learnt through my own practice and studies. So feel free to look around this website, to get in touch and express your opinions or to book a class. I look forward to hearing from you.
Classes
I deliver mixed level classes that allow others to develop physical strength and stamina thus toning the body and improving overall health.
Each class covers a warm up, posture (asana) practise, breathing exercises, meditation and relaxation.
Classes, one to ones and private group classes are available. I also teach chair yoga classes for those that are less able. For further information please contact me.
