Welcome to Your Balance For Life
Welcome, and thank you for visiting this complementary therapy website. Increasing numbers of people in the UK are using complementary - or alternative - therapy to try to alleviate particular illnesses or symptoms, or to improve their overall health and wellbeing.
Reiki
ReikiReiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a safe, gentle, non intrusive ‘hands on healing’ technique that provides optimum relaxation to help heal, balance and revitalise the mind, body, emotions and spirit. Reiki means ‘Universal Life Force Energy’. It helps promote balance and harmony in the whole person, helping the body’s natural energy to function and self heal.
Swedish Body Massage
Massage has existed in one form or another since early civilisation. The word massage is generally believed to derive from the Arabic ‘mass’ which means to press softly. The physical and psychological benefits of massage have been recognised for thousands of years. Massage is the manipulation of the soft tissues and muscles of the body for therapeutic purposes.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic treatment that works on the feet and hands to balance the whole body. It includes both massage and pressure point techniques to have an effect on the energy pathways or reflex zones of the body. Reflexology calms the nervous system, circulation improves and all the cells are oxygenated; all the systems of the body function in a more efficient and cohesive way, cleansing the body through the lymphatic, excretory and integumentary (skin, nail, hair, sweat and sebaceous glands) systems of toxins.
Hot Stone Massage Treatment
Hot stone massage is a variation on a classic massage therapy. Flat, smooth stones are immersed in water and heated in an electric heater until they are within a certain temperature range. The stones are placed on key points of the body, usually either side of the spine, in between the toes, in the palms of the hands and on the abdomen. The massage therapist also holds the stones and uses them to massage certain areas of the body using long smooth, nurturing strokes over its front and back.
The hot stones used are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that is rich in iron and retains the heat, inducing a wonderful sense of relaxation and wellbeing. The use of hot stones for healing, warmth, ceremonial purposes and rituals dates back to ancient times. The Native American Indians, Chinese and Japanese cultures have used stones in their diagnosis and treatment of disease for centuries.
The Benefits of Hot Stone Therapy- The heat warms and relaxes the muscles, which allows the therapist to give a deeper massage, if desired.

About Me
This website is aimed at anyone interested in healing, holistic healing, and self development using the healing energy of Reiki. I have always had a genuine interest in working with and supporting people; I worked in the social care field for 16 years in unqualified and qualified positions. During this time I experienced four major life events which made me re-evaluate my whole life. ‘Your Balance for Life’ is one part of my journey. I completed the ‘Reiki Practitioner Diploma’ at the Royal Forest of Dean College, Gloucestershire; I have continued my Reiki studies to Master/Teacher level.
I returned to the Royal Forest of Dean College in 2006 to continue my professional development and obtained a ‘Certificate in Swedish Massage’, Diploma in Reflexology, and ‘Diploma in Stone Therapy’. My intention is to offer therapies that complement each other and a holistic approach to the whole person, balancing mind and body.
