Circumcision is a surgical procedure to remove the foreskin of the penis. The surgery may be elected to be performed on a newborn baby boy for hygiene reasons as well as cultural or religious reasons. A circumcision may also be performed later in life as treatment for specific medical problems, such as inflammation. Circumcision is not medically necessary and is decided according to personal preference. There are no significant problems associated with circumcision.
