Diverticular disease is a condition which develops small pockets or outpouches in the bowel. When these become inflamed, diverticular disease becomes diverticulitis. The disease itself does not generally produce symptoms however individuals may feel mild cramps, bloating, constipation, diarrhea or notice blood in their poo. Diverticulitis can cause sharp pain, fever, nausea, a distended abdomen or vomiting. High fibre diet, pain relief medication or surgery.
